I’ve always thought that Citizen Speak would be a great resource for college activists. The following stats show that this is a growing sector. The latest issue of PolitcsOnline’s Politicker, notes that, 48 % of today’s college students consider themselves politically engaged are getting involved in the following ways:

— 36% signed an online petition
— 30% have written an e-mail advocating a position
— 18% contributed to a political blog

Hey Everyone:

Welcome to the new CitizenSpeak site. I’m proud to say that it’s better than ever. We’d love your feedback so please set up an account and launch a real or test campaign. Please send us your comments by clicking on the “contact” link above or emailing jo_lee@citizenspeak.org.

Just a couple years ago, at a neighborhood organizing meeting, I realized the need for an online service that enabled small grassroots organizations and activists to launch MoveOn-like email campaigns. Today, CitizenSpeak has grown from an idea into a mature and highly effective service. This would not have happened without all of you, namely the generous CitizenSpeak donors, CitizenSpeak users, and the CivicSpace and larger non-profit IT community.

I especially want to thank George Hotelling for developing the site and Eric at Development Seed for designing it. The new site is totally awesome!!!. I am also forever indebted to Pablo Calamera for his vision in building the first CitizenSpeak site. And finally, thank you Embolden Design for your hosting services.
