Your Personal Statement
Congratulations to the City of Fresno for being on the leading edge of the youth movement to fight alcohol problems.
As a result of the tremendous support the Fresno City Council has given to Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) and the youth prevention council, Urban Fresno's Leading Youth (UFLY), Fresno families will now be able to see a social host ordinance passed, and be adopted in their community. The members of the youth prevention council put in a lot of effort to gain support for this ordinance that will hold adults responsible for hosting parties at their homes where underage drinking is taking place. Fresno's decision to adopt this policy has spurred other smaller cities in Fresno County to also consider similar ordinances.
I join YLI and the youth council members in sharing my gratitude for the continued support of the Fresno City Council. The City Council has shown they hold the voice and efforts of young people in the community in high regard.
