Dear Supervisor,
I am writing to express my support for the San Bernardino County ORV Ordinance WITHOUT CHANGES that will weaken its protections.
I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to any changes that would increase the number of ORVs allowed before a special permit is required. This change will result in larger congregations of ORVs in our neighborhoods creating dust, noise and nuisance.
I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to allowing for multiple stagings per special use permit. This change would DECREASE the funding stream used to pay for enforcement of the ordinance INCREASE the number of staging events.
Our law enforcement personnel have been unanimous -- THE ORDINANCE IS WORKING -- ask the code enforcement officers and Sheriff's deputies working on the ground everyday to protect our communities. Riders continue to trespass on private and public lands and destroy vegetation and wildlife.
Most importantly, all throughout the county, residents, homeowners and businesses report that the ordinance is bringing safety and sanity to our communities. San Bernardino County is home to the largest ORV open area (Johnson Valley) in the country -- there is no reason for riders to use our neighborhoods as race tracks and open recreation areas. We ask that you defend our quality of life and protect our communities from ORV abuse.
