I am outraged at the recent firing of Archives & History Director Fred Armstrong. The disgraceful manner in which he was terminated after decades of outstanding service was appalling.
The people of West Virginia have benefited financially through his cost saving strategies, educationally through his editing and compiling of countless journals and magazine articles, and historically through his intense, time-consuming preservation of our archives.
The buck stops at your desk Gov. Manchin, and these egregious actions cannot be quieted by passing blame on legislative rules, the Secretary of Education and the Arts, or the Commissioner of Culture and History. Please take responsibility and personally issue Mr. Armstrong an explanation for his firing, an apology for his demeaning dismissal, and give him all monetary compensation that a public servant would receive after 30 years of dedicated service to the people of West Virginia.
