Recently a one-month study of your newspaper's coverage of US policy in Iraq and Iran was released by the Grand Rapids Institute for Information Democracy (http://www.mediamouse.org/griid/pdfs/reports/010208-gr_press_iraq_iran.pdf).
The study shows that the coverage relies primarily on US government and military sources, minimizes the coverage on the human cost of the war in Iraq, and tends to present the US occupation of Iraq and its position on Iran in a favorable light.
Considering that the US occupation of Iraq is approaching 5 years and the possibility of going to war with Iran is significant, I urge you to provide other sources of information. Please provide more coverage of what the Iraqi and Iranian people think of US policy and where the international community stands on these issues. I also urge you to provide ongoing coverage of where the local and national anti-war community thinks about these urgent issues. According to the new study, there were no anti-war perspectives presented for the entire month.
All of us are affected by war, both in human and economic costs, so I urge you to provide more balanced reporting in the future on US Policy, particularly in the countries where we are militarily involved.
