Subject: Why doesn't New York City have a Bed Bug Task Force?
Honorable Council Members and Legislators,
Bed bugs are spreading across our city and afflicting thousands of our fellow New Yorkers, sapping our energy and productivity, destroying our home comforts and family peace, and emptying our wallets.
Cincinnati and Toronto are making progress in the fight against this economically important urban pest and have declared ambitious plans and implemented sensible initiatives that include the tracking of infestations, new trash collection protocols, a bed bug hotline, coordinated public education efforts and regulatory and enforcement tools to aid prevention and control efforts. Why hasn't New York City formed a bed bug task force to establish best practices, coordinate resources and help our citizens fight the spread of bed bugs?
New York City needs a bed bug task force.
I respectfully request that you act to form a city task force without delay.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
