As a resident who lives by the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, I am opposed to turning the Parkway into a racetrack for a three-day motor race.
The constant and sustained noise levels, the crowds, the road closures, and the disruption of traffic for such a prolonged period of time is an unfair burden for our community to endure.
It is my understanding that Champ Car races have been tried in other downtown areas and subsequently moved to more spacious and appropriate areas in the city or just cancelled all together. Let us learn from these mistakes.
The quality of life in our neighborhood is what makes our city great. Our neighborhood will become a casualty if the Parkway becomes a racetrack.
