Subject: Ask Intel to Lobby for Clean Energy!

Your Personal Statement

Dear Jonathan Williams,

You have said that Intel looks forward to helping build support for investments in clean energy and energy efficiency, and for strong regulations on greenhouse emissions of the sort proposed by Governor Ted Kulongoski. Congratulations! As a way of following through on this pledge, I invite you to attend the lobby day for clean energy being organized by the Cascade Climate Network for early in the 2009 session, and show that Intel stands with the students of Oregon in asking for bold leadership on climate change and clean energy issues.

During the 2008 special session in Oregon last February, students from the Cascade Climate Network visited our Capitol to push for passage of House Bill 3610, the only global warming bill up for consideration during that session. But what if a representative of Intel had testified in favor of the bill, along with the students who spoke up for HB 3610 on our lobby day? Going into the 2009 session, I hope to see a partnership between student clean energy advocates and responsible businesses like Intel that say they are in favor of solutions to global warming.

When a strong clean energy agenda comes up for passage into law in 2009, we must have a supporting coalition that is strong enough to overcome pressure from industry groups like Industrial Customers of Northwest Utilities. Please come and testify in favor of clean energy with the Cascade Climate Network on the Network in 2009.
